# Equivalent Fractions

Equivalent fractions are fractions which are of equal value but one is a multiple of the other:

Equivalent fractions can be identified using the following conditions:

$\frac{a}{b}$ and $\frac{c}{d}$ are equivalent fractions if $\fs2a\;\text\;x\;d\;=\;b\;\text\;x\;c$.

When two fractions are equivalents we write: $\frac{a}{b}=\frac{c}{d}$

$\fs2\frac{3}{5}=\frac{12}{20}\;\Rightarrow\;3\;\text\;x\;20=5\;\text\;x\;12\;\Rightarrow\;60=60$
