Coordinate Graph review

Coordinate Graph review

On a coordinate diagram the horizontal line is called the x-axis and the vertical line is called the y-axis. The point where the x-axis and y-axis meet is called the origin, O.

The coordinates of a point are written (a,b) where a is the distance across (left or right) and b is the distance up or down from the point (0,0).

The coordinate grid is divided into four sections called quadrants:

Graph (3,4) and tell wich quadrant is it in.

The point (3,4) is in Quadrant I

If the point (x, y) is in Quadrant III, which of the following must be true?

x > 0 and y < 0
x < 0 and y > 0
x < 0 and y < 0
x > 0 and y > 0
