 Parallel and Skew Lines Parallel lines: Parallel lines are lines that lie in the same plane or flat surface and do not intersect. There are special symbols for parallel lines. In the figure above, lines AB and CD are parallel, as shown by AB||CD. Traditionally, parallel lines are also traditionally marked in diagrams using a corresponding number of chevrons. In a coordinate plane, parallel lines can be identified as having equivalent slopes.
