One way of simplifying expressions is to combine like terms. By combining terms we can shorten and simplify our expressions, making them easier to read. Like terms often contain the same variable or variables. Combine like terms: x2+3x+4x2+9-2x x2 + 3x + 4x2 + 9 - 2x = 5x2 + x + 9 Simplify: 3(x-1)+4x 3(x - 1) + 4x = 3x - 3 + 4x = 7x - 3
